Class Observation: Parents and guests are welcome to observe class from the designated observations areas.
Timeliness: Dancers are encouraged to arrive at least 5 minutes early to allow time for preparation and stretching before class begins. Punctuality ensures that your dancer can make the most of their training and smoothly transition into the dance session. For late arrivals, we request that you wait until an appropriate break or transition between classes before entering the studio. This helps maintain the focus and flow of ongoing sessions.
Studio Floor Etiquette: For safety and hygiene reasons, please do not wear street shoes on the studio floor. Outside debris can pose hazards to your dancer’s feet and the dance floor. Dancers are responsible for keeping the studio and lobby free from clutter. Dancers are expected to tidy up their belongings, snacks, water bottles, and dance bags before leaving the studio.
Student Departure Policy: Once class concludes, dancers are expected to leave the studio premises promptly. We are not responsible for supervising students once they exit the studio. For the safety and well-being of our dancers, we urge parents or guardians to ensure that their child leaves the premises safely and responsibly.
Pick-Up Time Policy: We kindly request that students be picked up within 10 minutes of the class ending time. If a student remains unattended for more than 10 minutes after the class has ended, BCDC reserves the right to charge a late pick-up fee of $15.00 total. We understand that unexpected circumstances may arise, so please notify the studio as soon as possible if you anticipate any delays in picking up your dancer.
Lost or Stolen Items: BCDC is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or misplaced items on the studio premises or in the lobby area. We strongly recommend that dancers and visitors keep their personal belongings secure and not leave valuables unattended. If you discover any lost items, please report them to the front desk, and we will do our best to assist in locating the owner.
Sibling Supervision: We understand that younger siblings may accompany parents to the studio. To ensure a safe and respectful environment, we kindly request parents or guardians to supervise younger siblings at all times. Please remind younger siblings not to run or play in the lobby area or near the studio entrance to prevent accidents and disturbances.

Missed Classes and Make-Up Classes: We do not adjust or prorate tuition for missed classes, including classes missed for holidays. Similarly, dancers are not eligible for make-up classes due to holidays. If a dancer misses class, make-up classes must be scheduled and attended by the end of the following month. For example, if your dancer misses a class in August, the make-up class must be completed before September ends. To request a make-up class, please email us at bcdcdance@aol.com with your class and date of interest to book a make-up class.
Withdrawal Policy: If your dancer withdrawals from class(es), that must be communicated via email to bcdcdance@aol.com before the 25th of the month; otherwise, you will be automatically charged on the first day of the following month. For example, if your dancer wants to withdraw in February, we need to know by January 25th.

Class Cancellations: BCDC reserves the right to cancel or combine classes due to low enrollment or other reasons. In such cases, we will notify affected students promptly and discuss suitable alternatives.
-
Punctuality and Warm-Up: Dancers must arrive at class on time. If a dancer is more than 15 minutes late, they must warm up independently until the instructor deems it appropriate for them to join the class. The first 15 minutes of class are crucial for proper preparation, conditioning, and injury prevention. Latecomers may be asked to wait until the next class to ensure they can participate safely and thoroughly.
Respectful Conduct: Throughout the entire class duration, students must demonstrate respect for their instructors and fellow peers. During water breaks, students are encouraged to promptly return to class after getting water, minimizing disruptions. Students not upholding respectful conduct may be asked to sit out temporarily.
Supportive Learning Atmosphere: We promote a positive and collaborative learning atmosphere where students are expected to support and encourage their fellow dancers. Any behavior that disrupts the positive environment or shows disrespect towards others will not be tolerated. Students not upholding these values may be asked to sit out temporarily.
Listening and Applying Corrections: Active listening is crucial in dance education. Students must listen attentively when the teacher provides corrections or feedback. Additionally, students should be receptive to corrections their peers’ receive, as they may also be relevant and beneficial for their own improvement.
Gratitude and Courtesy: After each class, students are encouraged to express appreciation by thanking their teacher — a reverence. Demonstrating gratitude and courtesy towards instructors fosters a respectful relationship and acknowledges their dedication to the student’s growth.
Consistent Attendance and Time Management: Regular class attendance is fundamental to progress and improvement in dance. We encourage all students to prioritize their dance education by attending classes regularly. Good time management is essential, not only for dance but also for success in life beyond the studio. Students are expected to manage their time effectively to avoid frequent absences from class.
Proper Dress Code and Preparedness: Students should adhere to the studio’s dress code guidelines, wearing appropriate dance attire, footwear, and hair. Being properly dressed allows instructors to observe body alignment and technique effectively. Students should come to class with all necessary dance supplies, such as dance shoes, water bottles, and any required equipment, to ensure a smooth and focused class experience.
Focus and Attention: During class, students should maintain focus and give their full attention to the instructor. Distractions, such as using mobile phones or engaging in unrelated activities, should be avoided.
Positive Attitude and Effort: A positive and open-minded attitude is essential in dance. Students should approach corrections and feedback enthusiastically, embracing opportunities for growth and improvement. Hard work and commitment are essential to progress and excel in dance.
Respect for Space and Silent Observing: Students must respect the dance studio space and its equipment. Keeping the studio clean and tidying up after themselves is essential. If students arrive early, they should do so silently, avoiding disruptions to ongoing classes.
Communication and Continuous Learning: Students should feel comfortable communicating with their instructor or the studio’s administrative staff if they have any concerns or questions related to their dance education or scheduling conflicts.
-
Respectful Communication: We value open and respectful communication within our dance community. We encourage parents, dancers, instructors, and staff to communicate directly with the studio administration to address any concerns or feedback constructively. Please email us at bcdcdance@aol.com in advance if your dancer will be absent from a scheduled class. This advanced notice allows our faculty to effectively tailor the curriculum and lesson plans based on the dancers who are present.
Zero Tolerance for Gossip: Gossip or negative conversations about other students, dance parents, or BCDC’s conduct/faculty will not be tolerated. As a studio committed to fostering a positive and professional atmosphere, we do not tolerate any gossip pertaining to our dance community. The dance community is small and highly interconnected, and we aim to uphold the highest standards of respect, integrity, and support for all individuals involved. Respecting the privacy of others is crucial in our dance community. Personal matters and private conversations should be treated with confidentiality and discretion.
Anti-Bullying Policy: We have a zero-tolerance policy for bullying in any form, including physical, verbal, or cyberbullying. Our studio is a safe space where all dancers feel respected, valued, and supported. Parents, dancers, and instructors are encouraged to uplift and motivate each other to achieve their best both inside and outside the studio.
Focus on Personal Growth: We encourage all members of our dance family to focus on their personal growth and progress rather than engaging in negative comparisons. Every dancer’s journey is unique, and we celebrate each individual’s accomplishments.
Lead by Example: Parents, instructors, and staff are encouraged to lead by example and set a positive tone for our dance community. By demonstrating kindness, respect, and professionalism, we inspire our dancers to do the same.
